RedAye

RedAye Label

RedAye is an American Red Ale made using (mostly) Brewdog’s recipe for 5am Saint, one of my favourite beers from them. It has various crystal malts for colour, maltiness and a slight roastiness. On top of this has a shed load of hops which gives it a really intensely fruity (tropical fruits, grapefruit, resin) and slightly spicy flavour and aroma. In a direct comparison to Brewdog’s 5am Saint, it is similar, but a a lot hoppier and more bitter, with slightly more body. 5am Saint is more malty. I’m very pleased with it, and it’s going fast!

When I make this again, I’ll probably halve the amount of hops and see if that brings the balance back towards the original- not that there is anything wrong with it as it stands, but I really like the original!

RedAye

Lovely colour of RedAye, and American Red Ale made from the Brewdog 5am Saint recipe. This was only a week after bottling, so clarity will improve.
